| Autoantibodies that are directed against lysosomal
Myeloperoxidase (MPO-ANCA, p-ANCA) located in
neutrophil granulocytes and monocytes can be found
in sera of patients with Churg-Strauss syndrome, an
allergic granulomatosis and angiitis and also in
patients with microscopic polyangiitis (MPA). Since
differentiation of MPA from the rest of autoimmune
disorders accompanied by pulmorenal syndromes (e.g.
Goodpasture syndrome, SLE, Wegener's granulomatosis)
the detection of Anti-MPO is of crucial importance
in making an early diagnosis. Myeloperoxidase is a
cationic enzyme located in the lysosomes of neutrophil
granulocytes and monocytes. |
