| Anti-BPI, Anti-Elastase, Anti-Cathepsin G, Anti-
Lysozyme and Anti-Lactoferrin are additional ANCA
specificities that can be found in different inflammatory
and rheumatic disorders but also in gastrointestinal
diseases. Bactericidal permeability increasing protein
(BPI) is another cANCA target antigen. Anti-BPI
antibodies are present in patients suffering from
inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn's disease
(23%) and colitis ulcerosa (37%) but also in patients
with cystic fibrosis and Beçet-Syndrome. Sera exhibiting
cANCA pattern along with a negative finding in
Anti-PR3 ELISA should be tested in Anti-BPI assay. Like
anti-MPO, also anti-Elastase, anti-Cathepsin G, anti-
Lysozyme und anti-Lactoferrin produce pANCA immuno-
fluorescence
pattern in indirect immuno-
fluorescence.
Accordingly, patient sera with pANCA pattern
and a negative finding in an Anti-MPO ELISA should
be assessed in those test kits. |
