| In contrast to antibodies directed against human insulin,
antibodies against insulin from animal sources are
not accepted as autoantibodies. Those antibodies are
responsible for the formation of insulin depots and
additionally they stimulate a resistance against hormonal
treatment with animal insulin. Subsequently
hyperglycemia results leading to disturbances in lipid
metabolism and glycosylation of various tissues. Those
metabolic changes cause multiple complications in the
late phases of diabetes mellitus type I. The microplate
is coated with a mixture of bovine, porcine and human
recombinant insulin. |
