| The autoantigen SS-A is a ribonucleoprotein consisting
of a uridine rich RNA and associated proteins.
Concerning the diagnostic relevance essentially two
proteins with a molecular mass of 52 and 60 kDa can
be distinguished within the SS-A (Ro) complexes. Both
assays permit the differentiating determination of
autoantibodies directed against both proteins occurring
in patients suffering from SLE and Sjögren's
syndrome. |
